Breathing at the floor
Sub-Zero vents its wine units at the front, and on a 424 that means the kickplate. A rug pushed up to it or a season of pet hair makes it run longer to hold both numbers.
Built like its taller siblings
Like the 427, a 424 gives each zone its own refrigeration, so a lone warm zone is a real diagnosis. It has no display shelf, and Sub-Zero offers no ninety-degree door stop for it, so a door that swings into a neighbouring drawer is worth mentioning when you call.

- Why does my 424 chime and show a bell?
- The bell is the temperature alarm. Sub-Zero set it to sound when a zone falls below freezing or climbs fifteen degrees above its setting.
